Who Do The Retired Senior Volunteer Programs Serve?





The Senior Corps are a vital part of today’s volunteer groups. They serve those who desperately need the advice, experience, initiative, and in some cases simply the presence of men and women over 55. Formed in 1993 by the merger of three volunteer programs – Foster Grandparents, RSVP, and Senior Companions – the Senior Corps have expanded over time to lend the help of those who are willing to valuable volunteer positions, non-profit groups, and many others.





Who Do The Retired Senior Volunteer Programs Serve?

The Senior Corps make up a wide variety of volunteers in all manner of positions, from as in-depth as assisting in times of national crisis, to mentoring and teaching today’s youth, providing homes and a family environment to foreign exchange students, administrating in non-profit offices and businesses, all the way down to helping set up science fairs, triathlons, and meetings for schools, driving cancer patients and those unable to transport themselves, and being part of crisis and counseling hot lines – the volunteer members of the Senior Corps do all this and more.

Who Do The Retired Senior Volunteer Programs Serve?


The Senior Corps serve everyone and in do so help strengthen the familial bonds we have in our neighborhoods and cities. They are a meaningful way for those who have reached their silver years to continue to give time and effort to others that need them, and be an important part of the well-being of not just those being served, but also the members themselves – a way to give back to their communities, or to join and build a new one altogether, as a member of the Senior Corps.
