I’m Ready to Get Involved
Ready set, get involved.
There are many different opportunities to get involved in. You can pick an opportunity, depending on area and your interests. If you go to here, then you can fill out the simple questions; zip code, distance (how far are you welling to travel), keywords, skills, city, state and program (Senior Corps, RSVP, FGP, SCP.) You can also call to receive more information at 1-800-424-8867 or e-mail them at [email protected].
For all programs, you can volunteer up to 40 hours a week and some volunteers can earn tax free, hourly stipend (weekly pay).
One of the programs, that is offered is Foster Grandparents Program (FGP). FGP is a program for people that are 55 years and older. Where you can become a friend, mentor and a role model to everybody that you come in contact with.
Another program, that is offered is Senior Companion Program (SCP.) If you are 55 years and older and want to become a companion to a frail person, then SCP is for you. If you want become an SCP then you will receive liability insurance while on duty, pre-service orientation, supplemental accident and training from the organization where you serve.
RSVP
The last program, that is offered is RSVP. If you are 55 and over, and want to tackle tough issues in your community then RSVP is for you. More than 500,00 people have volunteer though RSVP. If you want become a RSVP then you will receive liability insurance while on duty, pre-service orientation, supplemental accident and training from the organization where you serve.
