The Corporation for National and Community Service is an independent federal agency that was put in place in order to connect Americans from all walks of life with volunteer opportunities that enable them to serve their local community as well as the country as a whole. This agency has joined in collaboration with National Service Gear, an AbilityOne program of Industries for the Blind, Inc.-Milwaukee to supply agency, alumni and volunteer branded clothing, as well as various gear and promotional materials for CNCS. The Industries for the Blind, Inc.-Milwaukee provides employment opportunities for visually impaired citizens. The programs under the Corporation for National and Community Service that are partnering with Industries for the Blind, Inc.-Milwaukee are Learn and Serve America, Senior Corps and AmeriCorps.

Learn And Serve

Learn and Serve America challenges young people of all ages to make a real difference in their communities. In offering that encouragement, Learn and Serve America provides support in the forms of grant support and training help to schools and teachers further the goals of community service.

Senior Corps

Senior Corps, another program under the Corporation for National and Community Service, was created for the same purpose as Learn and Serve America, but with the intentions of encouraging Americans 55 and older to be active in their communities and to share their experiences and perspectives in service areas such as foster grandparenting and senior companion programs. The Senior Corps helps Americans 55 and older plug in where they are needed the most, providing them with purpose and life-enriching ways to share their experiences.
