How do we know if Medicare has been paid-in-full after someone passes? Will the Estate receive a bill and gets paid when the Estate is settled? What if the estate isn'r settled for 8 years?

My wife and I have BLUE CROSS ADVANTAGE AND PART ABC&D. She was diagnosed in November 2010 with a rapid growing brain cancer. Being the optimist that I am, I paid an attorney group specializing in getting MEDICAID--OVER $6,000, AND WAS PROMISED MEDICAID APPROVAL. After receiving 19 days of Chemo and radiation, she passed away on February 4, 2011. Now I am getting bills from drug companies, doctors I have never heard of, PRN units for transportation to get her to and from radiation. These "so called" CO PAYS ARE OUTRAGEOUS, AND BECAUSE OF THE "PAYDOWN" FOR MEDICAID--WHICH WAS NOT APPROVED--THEY TOLD ME SHE WAS DENIED BECAUSE SHE DIED--AND DID NOT NEED MEDICAID NOW. I am overwhelmed with payment demands, and an actually being sued by the drug company that provided the drugs. Basically, I am BROKE, UNEMPLOYED, AND WITHOUT A RETIREMENT PLAN. I definitely need HELP.

Please give me some suggestions.

Thanks
