I recently moved to Las Vegas, NV from Florida. In over 9 yrs of practicing, 3 different practice locations (all in FL), None of the practices billed for skin tags because I was told insurance/Medicare does not reimburse for the removal of them as they are benign. New state, and I am told they always bill for removal of skin tags in NV because "Medicare" requires they do even though they don't see the reimbursement. I didn't realize that Medicare requires one state to handle benign removal of lesions differently than other states? Does medicare require different billing procedures/policies state to state? Why would they require you bill for a procedure that we know we don't get reimbursed ?
I seem to get so many different answers...all different and confusing, and I'm just trying to do the right thing.....thank u!
